A Posy for Victoria

A posy for Victoria
Sweet violets for a queen
Sent by train from Clevedon
From where they grew unseen
Spring picked with pride in gardens
With scent that filled the air
Blooms of deepest purple
To soothe away despair
In far-off London palace
With Albert's loss still felt
A present from her subjects
Beside the sea who dwelt.
