Feathered Ribbons
Waves in feathered ribbons
Rushing to the shore
Foaming at their edges
Round anchored boats they claw
Shelducks flying eastward
Above incoming tide
Wings outstretched in tandem
As o'er the sea they glide
Magpies' raucous chatter
And sun-pierced clouds of grey
Wind-whipped over Wains Hill
As gales herald the day.
