Lunar Eclipse
Image: Danny Lawson, PA Media
On the day Apollo took off
Heading boldly into space
Fifty years of science later
Earth part-shadowed Moon’s bright face
Nations of the world remembered
Man’s first steps on lunar dust
‘Fore the Eagle headed homewards
Powered by the rocket’s thrust
In night skies a clear reminder
Of forces we cannot control
We’re just guardians of this planet
Tasked to keep it safe and whole
