City of cool fountains
Proud heart of Aragon
Where Moors and Jews and Christians
Lived and thrived as one
With water as its lifeblood
A prize that many sought
Iberia land made fertile
And wealth from Silk Road port
Cultures and religions
Each there to play a part
In shaping this Valencia
Creating sublime art
Potters in their workshops
With clay upon the wheel
Waiting for the kiln and paint
Ceramics to reveal
Where once a river flooded
Lush gardens now to walk
Underneath fine bridges
With background parrot squawk
Shapes of modern temples
To arts and science rise
Before high storied towers
That reach up to the skies
This place of tree-lined avenues
Which tempt one to remain
A tribute to its architects
A worthy jewel of Spain
