                A Realm Bereft

A nation mourns, a realm bereft
An aching void for those she left
Our Queen, our rock, throughout the years
Sweet memories amidst the tears

Love and duty were combined
High ideals in life enshrined
She kept the promise that she made
To serve her subjects and she stayed
Faithful, steadfast, true to all
When there was need she heard their call
In times when troubles came our way
She knew the calming words to say
And no one could forget the glee
With which she joined each jubilee
So now we bid our last farewell
With sounding gun and tolling bell
God Save Our Queen in tender care
As in deep grief her people share.
