Locked Down
Image: depositphots.com
Four walls can make a haven
Or else a prison cell
For elderly and lonely
Forced solitude is hell
Months just trapped in lockdown
Sad thoughts of absent friends
Too distant family members
On whom each one depends
Stuck in city tower block
Or cottage far from town
Enduring isolation
Long days just counting down
The hours until the night-time
Without a friendly voice
TV the sole companion
Then bed the early choice
They're victims of pandemic
Though they've kept Covid-free
And when we all can meet again
How happy they will be.
