Sunniest of Days
Softly sounds receding tide
Beneath a sky of milk
Waves ripple 'cross a surface
That shimmers like fine silk
Shelducks pace the mudflats
Seeking nature's store
While larks rise up from grassland
That rims the Channel shore
A fishing boat heads downstream
Past Cardiff in the haze
As birdsong greets what promises
The sunniest of days.
