No Seal of Approval
I almost saw a seal today
Beside the marine lake
It swam at high tide by the wall
But I made one mistake
I'd met a keen photographer
With all the proper gear
We talked and then I walked away
While he took shots of pier
As I returned I met a friend
Who told me what he'd seen
For Clevedon most unusual
And right just where I'd been
The cameraman had snapped the seal
Before it swam down coast
I almost saw a seal today
And that's an empty boast.
