Infinity Swimmers

They gather at the lakeside
Beneath a clear blue sky
Chattering in the sunshine
The eager and the spry
Emerging from their Dryrobes
The veterans and the young
Outer clothes discarded
And by the railings hung
Variety of swimwear
The lean and not so thin
Anxious to get going
Anxious to get in
And then the exclamation
The first initial gasp
The chilly realisation
As water takes its grasp
But soon the cold's forgotten
As out across the lake
Heading for the pier view
Their chosen strokes they make
Incoming tide erases
The line twixt pool and sea
As early morning swimmers
Enjoy infinity.
