Down For The Count
They took St George's stage tonight
They filled it with their sound
No better choice of music
In Bristol could be found
Down For The Count their title
The big band tunes their choice
From Ella, Frank to Nat King Cole
They gave sweet songs a voice
Sweeping strings and sounding brass
Brought Gershwin to the fore
Arrangements penned by Riddle
Conducted from the score
Virtuoso solos
Trumpet and saxophone
Improvising melodies
Set the evening's tone
They opened up the songbook
Brought back the Age of Swing
Resurrecting memories
And each heart made to sing.
