Dave's 70th

​

This isn’t like a sonnet

It’s really just a rhyme

But now you’ve got to 70

I think it is high time

To see the Bard was just a chap

Who played around with speech

If one is kept to 14 lines

Some verse is out of reach

Like Japanese with haiku

Some forms are just too strict

I want to make it sing-song

Not have the style pre-picked

I like the rhythm method

Though you may not be keen

I know it is your birthday

But this line makes sixteen.
