Tears In The Valley
I heard the news with resignation
Charlton"s fate is relegation
No more a place in Championship
Their chances had, but let things slip
The season started oh, so well
But through the months they slowly fell
When Covid forced the season's stop
They were hov'ring near the drop
With empty stands there came restart
It seemed Lee's men had just lost heart
The points to win, but not then taken
Absent fans, they felt forsaken
The final match that Leeds well won
Meant Addicks heading for League One
The Premiership now distant dream
No Valley games 'gainst football's cream
Bright hopes replaced with the old fears
A future stuck in doldrum years
As inquest starts on who's to blame
Remember, lads, it's just a game.
