Scone's Gone
At tea-time there is nothing like
A toasted hot cross bun
Or sometimes even nicer -
Tesco's sultana scone
Slightly warmed with butter
And jam just thinly spread
I might choose blackberry conserve
And raspberry's fine instead
Imagine then my horror
When one sad day I found
No treat in store within the bag
I'd left upon the ground
The culprit it was Bella
Her mistress said, Oh shame,
But you should know she's just a dog
It's you that is to blame
In future be more careful
On shelf place food upon
These words I will remember -
For now my scone is gone.
