Autumn Arboretum
In sunlit arboretum
You can't see wood for trees
From cypress, oaks and redwoods
To maples' vibrant leaves
Avenues and pathways
That lead from glade to glade
Westonbirt's attractions
Put others in the shade.
Specimens collected
From all around the Earth
Planted here in Gloucestershire
Prove conservation's worth
Autumn's colour fanfare
Russet, gold and red
Carpeting the woodland
With foliage here shed
Kaleidoscope of nature
The season's parting show
As sunbeams through the branches
Cause every leaf to glow
Across the sylvan acres
The strollers left in thrall
By such a sublime spectacle
The New World knows as Fall.
