Walton Common Flowers
Forget the Chelsea Flower Show
Forget those pruned displays
Just come to Walton Common
As it greets summer days
Wild blooms on ancient earthworks
Splashed purple, yellow, white
Nature in profusion
On this Gordano height
Grassland edged with woodland
Butterflies and bees
While up above a buzzard lone
Flies circles o'er the trees.
