Downward Cycle
We're on a downward cycle
In Clevedon by the sea
The council's going one way
Or so it seems to me
The boy band, One Direction,
Made music on our pier
The direction we are heading
Is pretty dire I fear
Drivers face diversions
Because of cycle lanes
Seafront parking will reduce
To add to other pains
It's not we don't like cyclists
But they are just a part
Of tourism that this town needs
To feed its beating heart
We're told that it is too late now
The changes set in stone
Let's hope we'll still see visitors
Not Promenade alone.
