Then You Left Me
I slept along your bedside
Close by you night and day
I tried so hard to keep you
Not let you fade away
But though you fought the sickness
That lodged within so deep
I had no power to save you
And wake you from your sleep
I whispered, keep on breathing
But it was not to be
I left your room a moment
'Twas then that you left me
Each night I say I miss you
Here in my lonely bed
And always I will love you
As on the day we wed.
