St Mary's Well
A well that served the Saxons
Now lovingly restored
Water drawn from hidden depths
And then from ewers poured
Up folk came from Ladye Bay
By faith to Walton drawn
Consecrating hallowed ground
And there a new church born
A tower raised, a parish named
But doomed to disappear
Until its resurrection
By those who hold God dear
St Mary's Well continues
With spring so crystal pure
To prove in ever-changing times
Sweet Nature's gifts endure.
