Canal Smoke

Wood smoke 'cross the water
Canal in early light
Sign of fresh-lit welcome fire
After the cold of night
Safely snug in narrowboat
The breakfast now prepared
Thoughts may turn to summer
A life afloat here shared
While down by sunlit Avon
A hardy cameraman
Seeks elusive kingfisher -
At least that is his plan.
