On Cromer Beach
Striding out on Cromer beach
Horizon fixed in sight
Heading for the autumn dawn
Just to catch the light
Past brightly painted beach huts
Closed now that summer's done
Seaweed-covered groynes to scale
As clouds defer to sun
Wet sand reflecting colours
Receding tide of gold
Meeting dogs and owners
Warm-wrapped against the cold
Another day in Norfolk
More scenes to fill the mind
Happily awaiting
The pleasures yet to find
