Lapwings Murmuration
Forget those boring starlings
That others rush to see
A flock of swooping lapwings
Have more appeal for me
Swirling with their piping calls
Their wings of black and white
Create a murmuration that
Knocks others out of sight
Then settling on the shallows
Before the Quantock Hide
Delighting all the birders
Watching warm inside.
