Swooping Swifts
Swifts swooping over Dial Hill
Out at break of day
Skimming oe'r the treetops
Seeking here their prey
Criss-crossing 'gainst the grey clouds
Diving high and low
Aerobatic artists
Putting on a show
Joyful in the open air
A summer sight to bring
Above the seaside hilltop
Perfection on the wing
All too soon they'll leave us
Again to oceans cross
Africa their target
While we will feel their loss.
