Tumbledown Cottage
Once a home in Cotswolds
Now shocking disrepair
A cottage in a valley
Needs tender loving care
What stories here unfolded
The lives within its walls
Children in the garden
Hearing mothers' calls
Fathers leaving hearthside
To head to foreign wars
Bravely risking life and limb
For some forgotten cause
Hopes and fears of families
Their names lost in the past
Did they know their cosy home
Was destined not to last
Maybe one day we can hope
This house will rise again
Restored to former glory
But who knows how or when.
